This club was founded in 1980 as Smoky Mountain Youth Soccer Association. SMSC officially became Smoky Mountain Soccer Club for the fall season of 2003. Smoky Mountain Youth Soccer Association has been serving the soccer community of Western North Carolina for over twenty years. In 2007, we changed the name to Carolina Mountains Soccer Club (CMSC) to reflect the growth of the club as it better serves the area in which it was founded.
We would like to make sure you are aware of the differences between challenge soccer and classic soccer, so that you can make informed choices about joining these two different types of teams.
Challenge soccer is designed to be competitive in that each player must try out, practice twice a week, and acquire increased technical and tactical skills. Often, each player will play in each game.
Classic soccer is the highest level of competition for youth players. The environment is designed to develop players to their fullest potential by receiving quality coaching in technical and tactical skills and playing the top competition in North Carolina during the regular season and in tournaments. Players do not always play in every game. Playing time is based on skill level acquired through hard work and commitment. Classic soccer is for youth soccer players who want the maximum challenge and whose family is in the position to dedicate the time and support required for practice, games, and tournaments.
Please contact us by phone or email if you have any questions about classic soccer or Smoky Mountain Soccer Club.
Coaches for all our soccer teams are licensed and experienced soccer professionals, who are able to teach the skills and tactics of the game at the highest level. If you are an experienced coach looking for a new opportunity, please contact the club about possible openings.
